    Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.

     

    This course introduces the early childhood context and critically examines the principles and perspectives underpinning contemporary early childhood pedagogy. More specifically students will acquire critical skills in order to approach critically the main themes and models of current pedagogical debate with reference to

    • forms and characteristics of a pedagogy in early childhood which will be investigated from a scientific perspective in order to understand the multiplicity and the specificity of educational interactions during early childhood.
    • Time and space in education: subject; context and knowledge
    • Images of early childhood
    • Educational professionalism in childcare

    Students should be able to

    - apply autonomously educational methodologies and strategies by designing and planning educational activities; apply learned knowledge and skills to different types of contexts and services; compare limits and potentialities of own personal reflection.

    - practice reflexivity, using their personal experience to critique what passes as accepted knowledge in an early childhood context in order to develop a culturally oriented, critical, flexible and dynamic perspective on the professional profile of educator as well as on the educational practises of childhood professionals.

  • LABORATORIO DI PEDAGOGIA DELL'INFANZIA

    Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.

    The class group should not exceed the number of 50 students.

    The activities will be introduced by a brief description of the materials, sources, and documentation of the main contents of the course. The training activities will be carried out both individually and in small groups. Educators and early childhood professionals will be involved.


Detailed Course Content

  • PEDAGOGIA GENERALE E DELL'INFANZIA

    The aim of the course on early-childhood pedagogy is to promote critical thinking on how interactions among people, contexts, culture, knowledge, and pedagogy influence the early childhood development. Epistemological, methodological and social issues in early childhood pedagogy will be discussed, with a particular focus on the main features of educational professionalism and project-oriented education in childcare. The specificity of the pedagogical thinking regarding the relations between logic and ethic and the cognitive sphere and social domain will be presented.

    Planning and organizing space and materials in an early childhood context following the perspective of active teaching.

    Space as a pedagogical device.

    Children's Rights and educational settings for children in the open air. Experience of inclusive education.
