Learning Objectives

  • PEDAGOGIA SPECIALE E DISABILITA'

    The course aims to provide students with basic knowledge about the main cultural and theoretical assumptions underlying the inclusive early childhood perspective, with particular reference to the transition from integration to inclusion, to intervention strategies to foster the inclusive process of children with disabilities, to the main classification systems in relation to the original characteristics of subjects with disabilities and the context of belonging, to the current educational approaches to disability and to special educational needs.

    At the end of the course the student is expected to be able:

    • to know the theoretical and conceptual foundations of Special Pedagogy;
    • to know the national and international documents on the subject of integration and school inclusion;
    • to compare the main approach to disabilities;
    • to integrate the acquired knowledge to manage the complexity of inclusive dynamics;
    • to communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions using specific vocabulary and appropriate terminology.
  • WORKSHOP

    The workshop aims to developmethodological skills in order to create an inclusive project taking into account special educational needs and problematic situations in early childhood.

    In particular, at the end of the workshop, the student should be able:

    • to use knowledge in an integrated and critical way to promote collaboration with families and the community;
    • design and evaluate inclusive educational activities at the nursery school.

Course Structure

  • PEDAGOGIA SPECIALE E DISABILITA'

    Lessons will be conducted favoring active learning methods with collaborative activities in pairs and in groups, collective discussions, exercises and formative evaluation activities.

    Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.

  • WORKSHOP

    Starting from the presentation of some case studies, students will work in small groups on the themes proposed with active methodologies.

Detailed Course Content

  • PEDAGOGIA SPECIALE E DISABILITA'

    The course covers in particular the following topics:

    • Origin and evolution of the Special Pedagogy
    • From the medical and social model to the ICF
    • International and national documents on inclusion
    • Italian legislation on integration and inclusion
    • The most common disabilities in childhood: visual, auditory, intellectual, motor, autism spectrum disorders and pluridisability
    • Tools for the design and evaluation of inclusive project at the nursery school
    • The individual project: from the PF on an ICF basis to the PEI
    • Including: intervention strategies, spaces and times structure, adapted materials and assistive technologies
    • Play and communication in children with disabilities
    • Family participation and collaboration
  • WORKSHOP

    Analysis of good practices related to the inclusion of children with disabilities in the nursery school.

    Design and evaluation of inclusive projects for children with disabilities in the nursery school.
