Learning Objectives

  • EDUCATIONAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY

The course aims to address the central themes of Educational and Developmental Psychology with a focus from early childhood to adolescence, taking into account the role played by the main educational agencies. In addition to the main theories that allow to understand the different developmental phases of individual lifespan, space will be given to the study of creativity through the examination of theoretical and empirical contributions with particular attention to the school context. The family environment will be treated by deepening its various psychological dimensions, in order to highlight possible strategies of social support to parenting. From a methodological point of view, it will be deepened the observation of child behavior as a fundamental method of approach to the development, which is preparatory to any following evaluations and application plans. Additional materials provided by the teacher will allow to increase the mastery of these topics in the specific perspective of the curriculum chosen by the students. At the end of the course, therefore, it will be necessary to know the concepts of Educational and Developmental Psychology in order to implement them in the professional practice.

  • LAB OF FIRST CHILDHOOD PSYCHOLOGY (0-3 YEARS)

The laboratory aims to address the Psychology of Early Childhood through a practical and experiential approach. The methodology of scientific observation will be deepened in operational terms so that it can be applied to the study of play in the first years of life. At the end of the laboratory, therefore, it will be necessary to master observation as an empirical mean to collect data on childhood play, seen as an activity that signals the progression of cognitive-emotional-behavioral development.
