Learning Objectives

  • METODI E TECNICHE DI RICERCA EDUCATIVA E DI VALUTAZIONE DI INTERVENTI EDUCATIVI

    The course aims to illustrate the main methods of empirical research in education and to provide students with the theoretical and methodological tools for designing research carried out in school and extra-curricular contexts, in order to innovate educational and didactic practices. In particular, the objectives of the course are:

    • know the theoretical-operational framework at the basis of empirical research in education;
    • know the most important research strategies in education;
    • knowing how to design an empirical research by applying the research phases to a pre-established context;
    • knowing how to use and build tools for data collection (questionnaire, interviews, focus groups, observation grids, etc.);
    • knowing how to use "mixed" research tools;
    • knowing how to identify and analyze quantitative and / or qualitative data;
    • knowing how to communicate and interpret the results of an empirical research

    The lessons are optional but strongly recommended, as they are characterized by the active participation of students.Attending the lessons allows you to progressively acquire mastery of the contents, to discuss with colleagues and the teacher on topics and problems, to constantly check their learning levels. The lectures will alternate with moments of group and individual work; moments of presentation of the material that the students themselves will have produced and which will be discussed in the oral interview.

    The teaching aims to focus attention on the following topics:
    • Methodology of educational research and theoretical reference framework;
    • Educational research strategies (research by experiment, interpretative, case study, survey, etc.);
    • From assumptions to operational definitions;
    • The collection and analysis of data;
    • Use of Focus Groups in education;
    • Evidence Based Education (EBE);
    • Field research activities.
