Salvatore VASTA

Associate Professor of HISTORY OF PHILOSOPHY [M-FIL/06]

Graduated in Philosophy in 1989 at the University of Catania with 110/110 grades and honors with a thesis on the thought of Jaspers: Philosophical faith and faith revealed in the thought of K. Jaspers, he taught for several years (1992-2002) History and Philosophy in high schools, during which he received numerous specialization and advanced qualifications.

In 2006 he received his PhD in "Fundamentals and Methods of Educational Processes at the same University, discussing a doctoral thesis entitled" Knowledge and Evolution. The Human Formation in Konrad Lorenz ".

From November 1, 2006 he was a research fellow at the chair of "History of Philosophy" M-FIL 06 for the research project "Philosophy and evolution in epistemology of the 20th century - Faculty of Education - Research Director Prof. F. Coniglione. In the same year he was awarded a scholarship for research abroad (DR University of Catania 25 March 2004 / n. 195) from 17/9/07 to 10/31/07 in the College of Liberal Arts - University of Nevada, Reno.

He was a lecturer in "History of Science" and "Philosophy of Science" in the Faculty of Education of the University of Catania, respectively, for the a.a. 2006/2007 and 2007/2008.

He is associate professor in the SSD M-FIL 06 (History of philosophy) in the Department of Education, where he holds the chair of History of contemporary philosophy.

The research area is located in fields related to the History of the philosophy of Science, the History of Science and the History of Contemporary Philosophy, with particular reference to the issues of evolution, related to the foundations of the philosophy of culture and the theory of knowledge.
