HISTORY OF MARGINALITY IN THE MIDDLE AGES

The teaching provides the student with knowledge to develop a critical judgment on the issue of marginality in the Middle Ages and to frame this topic in the context of the political, social and religious transformations of the age


Course Structure

Formal lectures. Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.

Learning assessment may also be carried out on line, should the conditions require it.


Detailed Course Content

The course deals with the main themes of marginality in the Middle Ages:

- The conception of medieval marginality

- The image of the poor in rural and urban context

- Poor and outcast in medieval sources

- The Church and the poor, between saints and assistance

- Kind of marginalization, between poor and sick people
