Course Description
This workshop aims to consolidate and expand the communicative competence developed during the first year. The course introduces additional grammatical structures and communicative functions necessary to talk about past experiences, recent events and future plans.
Particular attention is devoted to the development of oral interaction and communicative fluency.
The workshop also strengthens the connection between English language learning and primary school teaching contexts.
Learning Objectives
The workshop aims to:
• consolidate students’ communicative competence in English
• expand vocabulary related to everyday life and school contexts
• develop greater fluency in oral communication
• introduce grammatical structures related to past and future events.
Expected Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop students will be able to:
• interact in simple communicative situations with greater confidence
• describe past events and experiences
• talk about future plans and intentions
• express recent experiences and duration of actions
• understand short written texts.
Professional Skills for Future Teachers
The workshop supports the development of linguistic skills useful for future primary school teachers.
Students will practise:
• using English for basic classroom interaction
• giving instructions and explaining simple activities
• communicating with pupils using clear and simple English
• understanding simple teaching materials and instructions
• using English in basic educational situations.
Children’s Literature and Storytelling
The workshop includes activities based on short narrative texts from children’s literature.
Students will explore how stories and storytelling techniques can be used to support English language learning in primary school classrooms.
These activities aim to:
• improve reading and listening comprehension
• expand vocabulary
• introduce basic principles of storytelling in language teaching.

Teaching Methodology
The workshop adopts a Communicative Approach combined with elements of the Humanistic-Affective Approach.
