Assistant Professor of METHODOLOGIES OF TEACHING AND SPECIAL EDUCATION [PAED-02/A ]

Corrado Muscarà is a researcher in Special Education and Pedagogy (PAED-02/A) at the Department of Education Sciences of the University of Catania.
He graduated in Education Sciences (2001) and obtained his PhD in Fundamentals and Methods of Educational Processes (2008) from the same university. During his academic career, he carried out research as a research fellow at the Faculty of Education Sciences at the University of Catania (2008–2011) and subsequently at the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the same university (2015–2016). He was also a fixed-term researcher in the M-PED/03 sector – Didactics and Special Education (2023–2026). In 2025, he obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the position of Associate Professor in the 11/D2 competition sector – Didactics, Special Education and Educational Research.
He has carried out international research and academic cooperation as a Visiting Scholar at the Social Science Research Centre at Mississippi State University (USA) and as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Valladolid (Spain). In 2025, he participated in the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching programme at the Faculty of Education of the University of Burgos.
Since 2008, he has been teaching university courses in Education Sciences and Motor Sciences, mainly in the field of Special Education and Pedagogy and, to a lesser extent, in the field of Experimental Pedagogy. He currently teaches Pedagogy for Educational and Social Inclusion in degree courses in Education and Training Sciences and runs the Teaching Technologies Laboratory in the degree course in Primary Education Sciences.
Her research activity is in the field of special pedagogy for inclusion and focuses on the analysis of educational planning processes in school contexts and on the pedagogical conditions that make it possible to build inclusive educational contexts. In particular, her research explores the role of institutional educational planning mechanisms and working groups for inclusion, with specific reference to the Operational Working Group for Inclusion (OWG) and the processes of educational co-responsibility among the various professionals involved in inclusive school systems, with a particular focus on primary schools.
He also carries out editorial activities in the field of pedagogical research: since 2020, he has been a member of the Editorial Committee of the scientific journal “Educrazia. Rivista di riflessioni pedagogiche e didattiche” (ISSN 2705-0351); since 2025, he has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the international journal “Nudos. Transdisciplinary Journal of Sociology, Theory and Didáctica of the Literature” (E-ISSN 2530-6499).
