Expected Learning Outcomes

The course aims at providing students with the knowledge to reinforce and extend English language skills , particularly concerning the grammatical , morphological , lexical and phonological aspects of language (B1+/B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) , reading comprehension and the ability to comment on topics related to the pedagogical field and literary texts . Entry level: A2+/B1. Achievement: B1+/B2

Detailed Course Content

Grammatical morphological, lexical and phonological aspects of English language (B1+/B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages); the most common elements of scientific lexicon; reading comprehension and the ability to comment on topics related to the pedagogical field and literary texts and particularly the following topics:

  • Language and Culture
  • Children’s Literature

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • express opinions
  • recognize grammatical and syntactical structures;
  • recount present, past and future events,
  • recognize and use the most common elements of scientific lexicon;
  • read, analize and comment on pedagogical and literary texts;
  • sum up information found in texts;

Learning Assessment Procedures

Written exam and Oral exam

The evaluation criteria are: Knowledge and understanding, Applying knowledge and understanding, Knowledge of English for Secific Purposes (Reading comprehension and the ability to comment on topics related to pedagogical field and literary texts), Making judgements, Communication skills and Learning  skills.The final mark of the course will be derived from the average of the marks obtained  in the two parts (Written exam and Oral exam)
