Learning Objectives

Outlines the history of classical archaeology, the archaeological methods, the literary sources and other data suitable for the reconstruction of the ancient world. Typology, chronology and history of the Greek and Roman monuments of the architecture, sculpture and painting.


Detailed Course Content

1. Archeological methods, literary sources, history of the discipline, historiography of greek and roman art.

2. Materials, techniques, typologies and chronology of the greek and roman architecture.

3. Materials, techniques, typologies and chronology of the greek and roman sculpture, relief and painting, with particular attention to the iconographic and stylistic reading of the ancient work of art.
