Expected Learning Outcomes

Acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge on psychology of disability in adults with acquired neuropsychological disorders as a result of focal and diffuse brain lesions. 

Knowledge of cognitive and emotional-motivational deficits associated with brain injury or dysfunction in the adult patient.

Understanding the neural basis of motivated behavior and human cognitive processes.

At the end of the course and laboratory activities, the student will learn the basics of neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation.

Main causes of acquired brain damage.

The method in clinical neuropsychology.

Main tools for neuropsychological assessment.

Approach to cognitive rehabilitation techniques.

Alterations of cognitive and emotional abilities as a result of brain injury.

Amnesias, frontal syndromes, dementias and mild cognitive impairment, neglect, visual-spatial disorders, acquired speech disorders, apraxia, agnosia.

Learning Assessment

Learning Assessment Procedures

The exam will take place in oral form. Students attending the workshops and who intend to use, through validation, the corresponding hours for the purposes of the internship, are required to write a report on one of the topics covered in the aforementioned workshops. This report will be approved by the teacher at the end of the exam and delivered by the student to the internship office.
