Integrated course of Clinical and Dynamic Psychology

Module CLINIC PSYCHOLOGY AND MODELS OF INTERVENTION IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

1. Knowledge and understanding

At the end of the programme, students will have acquired a solid clinical-psychological framework grounded in the main theories of psychopathology and in different psychological intervention models (individual, systemic, group and community-based). Students will understand the complexity of territorial and socio-healthcare contexts and the specific clinical demands arising from them, developing an intervention culture oriented towards clinical and applied research.

2. Applying knowledge and understanding

Students will be able to apply theoretical and methodological knowledge to the diagnostic formulation of different forms of psychological distress, to differential diagnosis, and to the formulation of therapeutic indications based on the best available empirical evidence. They will also be able to integrate different intervention models within community and healthcare services, adopting practices of intervention monitoring and outcome evaluation.

3. Making judgements

The programme fosters the development of independent judgement in clinical evaluation and in selecting appropriate interventions in relation to contextual complexity and individual needs, promoting critical and responsible clinical decision-making within a biopsychosocial and multidimensional treatment approach.

4. Communication skills

Students will develop advanced communication skills in clinical feedback, in the formulation and sharing of diagnostic and therapeutic hypotheses, and in professional dialogue within services and multidisciplinary teams, using appropriate technical and scientific language.

5. Learning skills

At the end of the programme, students will be able to autonomously update their knowledge through scientific literature, integrate research and clinical practice, and develop reflective competencies to support continuous improvement of psychological interventions and professional development in clinical and socio-healthcare contexts.

Frontal lessons, case series discussions, and simulations; meetings with professionals and expert, role playing, /supervised clinical practice and research

Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.

Learning assessment may also be carried out on line, should the conditions require it.

Clinical psychological theory and the application of intervention techniques within a specific integrated theoretical model based on evidence of effectiveness. The phases of observation, exploration, feedback and sharing involved in defining and, where appropriate, implementing the intervention; similarities and differences across the various contexts in which requests for help arise. Critical review of the fundamental concepts of integrated clinical psychological intervention; key theoretical and operational issues, within a clinical psychological and research-based approach and from an integrated theoretical perspective; the initial phase of the intervention; issues related to the evaluation of effectiveness; theoretical perspectives of the different models in clinical psychology; assessment in clinical psychology and psychodiagnostic methods; interventions in clinical psychology; analysis of psychopathological conditions, with presentation of clinical examples. Psychological and psychotherapeutic intervention models, from individual, family and group models to community models, considered not only in terms of their evidence of effectiveness but also in relation to the functioning of public services and accredited private providers.
