Learning Objectives

COURSE TOPICS: Formal training processes and socio-productive system

Through the reasoned reconstruction of the history of the school and educational institutions in Italy, the course aims to highlight the reasons for the political and social mandate connected to these institutions, with particular attention to the relationship between education, work and social progress. cultural and civic. Object of specific interest will be the historical and social role played by the work within the educational and training institutions in Italy.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

The course aims to introduce the student to the reading of the history of the school and of educational institutions in Italy, through the use of methodological and critical tools offered by the historiographical and post-annalistic historiographic tradition.

At the end of the course the student must possess a critical knowledge on the correspondence between political mandate, pedagogical theories, school legislation and educational

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

  • Ability to place the role of the school within the historical dynamic nature-culture;
  • Ability to analyze and contextualise the pedagogical dictates underlying the various school reforms that have characterized and modified, over time, the educational system of vocational education and training;
  • Ability to use critical categories to analyze the formative meaning of work and its role in, and for, the change of the social and training

Course Structure

The course is divided into three modules: the first will focus on issues of historical-educational research methodology; the second, will provide an overview of the history of the Italian school; the third, of a specialized-monographic nature, will focus on the historical and social role of work within educational and training institutions.

Specifically, the course intends to pursue the acquisition of the following contents:

  • Knowledge of the methodological tools of historical-educational research;
  • Knowledge of the general framework of development of the history of the Italian school from the Unification to today;
  • Knowledge of the School's political and social function;
  • Knowledge of the educational value assigned to work, as a historical form of human and civic self-production.
